It took three tries but it finally happened at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group in Groveton, New Hampshire as the Northern New Hampshire speed plant finally opened their doors on the 2019 season. Winners on the night included Kevin Boutin, Dean Switser Jr., Jesse Laquerre and Jack Call.
It was Round #1 for the Caron Fabrication Triple Crown Series for the Dalton Mountain Motorsports / Caron’s Towing. Tiger Sportsman and it was a race that kept everyone on their feet from the green flag to the checkers. The 75 lap main event had only a couple of yellows, the first being on lap 42 and was the one that jumbled the better part of the field. Kevin Boutin grabbed the lead from Jason Kenison at the 15 lap mark and led the field until the first caution. Rookie Jared Plumley battled hard with Kenison all the while Travis Calkins and Brad Bushey reeled in the pair. Methodically Bushey worked his way to third and was challenging for second when he got the nose under Kenison in turn one. The tiny hole closed quickly and Bushey couldn’t back out quick enough and turned Kenison around, collecting Calkins with him. On the restart Boutin held his lead as Plumley challenged but couldn’t get closer than the back bumper of Boutin. The final caution flew on lap 64 as 12 year old Makita Giroux, last year’s Daredevil champion broke a wheel sending him around collecting MC Ingram and Nick Gilcris. The final green flew and Boutin held off all challengers to collect the win. Travis Calkins, Jason Kenison, Jared Plumley, and Brad Bushey placed second through fifth. Plumley and Bushey collected heats checkers.
Dean Switser Jr. led most of the way in the Caron Fabrication Street Stocks as he held off a very fast closing Jamie Heath to secure the win. Shawn Hood placed a solid third followed by Todd Derrington and Tom Merchant. Switser won the qualifying round.
The Claudette and Dean’s Place Daredevils put on a great show as this division is going to be a good in 2019. Jesse Laquerre held off a determined Brady Heath to win his first ever feature event. Kaden Fisher, Mekaylah Bowen and Cassi Leonard rounded out the top five. Heath captured the very entertaining preliminary round.
The all new Mom’s North Country Powersports UTV one on one front stretch drags made their debut and Jack Call defeated Aaron Smith in the finale.
